The Health and Safety Authority estimates that 50% of all occupational illnesses relate to musculoskeletal ill-health. Lifting loads as part of the job, known as ‘manual handling’ accounts for the majority of these cases. The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, Chapter 4 of part 2, sets out how workplaces need to reduce this risk of illness through manual handling.
A key component of these guidelines is that employees must be trained in the safe handling of loads within their workplace. Our training will ensure that your organisation meets the criteria set out and ultimately reduces the amount of ill-health, time off and potential litigation as a result.
